Dr. Kerr moved back to Iowa as a staff physician at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, IA, where he became the Assistant Medical Director of the Emergency Department. He moved to Des Moines, IA, in 2006 to become the Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Mercy Medical Center. He also began an affiliation with the Critical Access Hospital in Grundy Center, IA, serving as Medical Director, where he received a Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction Award for leading his department to the third highest ranking in the United States.
In addition to his substantial practice in Emergency Medicine, Dr. Kerr has been in the Iowa Army National Guard for over 30 years, receiving awards such as the Expert Field Medical Badge, Flight Surgeon Wings, Meritorious Service Medal, several Army Commendation and achievement Medals. He has deployed overseas four times and is currently the State Surgeon for the Iowa Army National Guard. Dr. Kerr now serves as the Chief Medical Officer of ACUTE CARE, INC. In this role, he leads the ACI Performance Improvement Department, providing peer reviews, physician mentoring, and local Medical Director education and support. Dr. Kerr serves as a resource in ensuring that the Emergency Physicians are properly educated and adept in the use of the facility documentation systems. He performs assessment and recommendation analysis for our partner facilities, and consults on system design and utilization that ensures best practice-level performance. |
